I did enter the yahoo lottery and now I got an email saying I won. If I deposit this check and it clears, what is a safe amount of time to ensure its authenticity before spending any money?|||If you received a check, it will not clear. You will be liable for passing a bad check, even though it looks authentic. In these cases, usually the contact info is from another country in an effort to skirt US laws. This IS a SCAM. There is no, repeat NO, Yahoo lottery.
Throw it away, report it, anything except attempt to cash it.
Good luck.|||There is no Yahoo lottery and there has never been one. I have no idea of what you entered. It is all a scam.

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

As a general rule - ANYTHING involving Western Union/money gram = Scam.
my Advice: Don't deal with anyone out of state or from a foreign country or Accept or cash checks from strangers and never use wire/bank transfer services.. you risk losing your $$ and your mind.
If you sell stuff online.. Accept Cash or paypal only.
If you buy stuff online.. Use Paypal only.
Remember, if it sounds too good
to be true, it probably is! NEVER(ever) give out your personal information to strangers online or offline! Always be on guard.
